WhatsApp, is a popular messaging service owned by Facebook Inc, suffered yet another global outage for about an hour tonight before the problem was fixed. Last time it happened lasted for several hours before being resolved.
More than 1 billion people in over 180 countries use WhatsApp to stay in touch with friends and family, anytime and anywhere. WhatsApp is free and offers simple, secure, reliable messaging and calling, available on phones all over the world.
WhatsApp was founded by Jan Koum and Brian Acton who had previously spent 20 years combined at Yahoo. WhatsApp joined Facebook in 2014, but continues to operate as a separate app with a laser focus on building a messaging service that works fast and reliably anywhere in the world
“WhatsApp users around the world experienced a brief outage today that has now been resolved”, a WhatsApp spokeswoman said in a statement. The cause of the outage, about an hour-long, was not immediately known.
Users in other countries also complained of outages on social media.
WhatsApp’s is used by more than 1.2 billion people around the world and is a key tool for communications, commerce in many countries and as a replacement for SMS in a number of countries.
