WhatsApp may soon let you send self-destructing messages

WhatsApp is reportedly trialling a new feature whereby you can send self-destructing messages in private conversations.

This was first spotted by  WABetaInfo, which shows that the latest beta (version 2.20.83/2.20.84) for the Facebook-owned app includes a “Delete messages” option for private chats. According to Android Central, “Previous betas had already added a similar setting for group chats, but WhatsApp has now expanded the functionality to personal conversations, as well.”

This new feature will allow you to set messages to self-destruct after an hour, a day, a week, a month, or possibly a year

Once activated, You will see a small “clock” icon next to individual chat bubbles to indicate that it will be deleted per a timeframe given

Just last week, Twitter introduced Fleets, i.e. vanishing tweets. These posts disappear after 24 hours and have no Retweets, likes or public comments

This self deleting message was first introduced by Snap for its Snapchat mess
