WhatsApp has launched audio messaging that is similar to the one available on Line messaging app and BlackBerry Messenger.
WhatsApp, the Californian based startup, has been very simplistic with its approach. They take pride in their engaged users that are over 300million that use the app at least once in a month. But the mobile messaging space isn’t getting less competitive. We have the likes of KakaoTalk, WeChat, Line, BlackBerry Messenger, 2go and the likes sharing the mindshare.
In order to stay relevant and not lose its present users and still be able to grow its user base, they have included people who are not very literate. People who aren’t very literate can download the app and send unlimited voice messages for free. the voice messaging option is a good step forward. WhatsApp also hasn’t placed a limit in the duration of the voice message.
I tried it on my Nexus 4 Android Phone and my Nokia Lumia 920 Windows Phone 8. It works perfectly.
WhatsApp is adding the new function to its apps for the iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone and Nokia S40 platforms. If you are not seeing it on your phone, go ahead and update your app.
Check out the video on the new feature.
