WhatsApp is working on a new game-changing feature that would enable Android users to connect multiple devices to the same account.
The new update was spotted by WABetaInfo and its report, the platform noted that the multi-device feature was enabled in the most recent WhatsApp beta build (version 2.22.10.13) and is expected to be released to the public at an unspecified later date.
Last year, the Instant Messaging service introduced a new feature that allowed users to seamlessly utilise the service on their smartphones and computers via WhatsApp Web.
WhatsApp Web, on the other hand, does not require an active internet connection for users to operate the connected phone.
Inspite of this useful Whatsapp update, its users are still unable to operate the same account and phone number on several smartphones and tablets. Thus, attempting to link a phone number to WhatsApp on a tablet will result in the account being disconnected from the registered phone.
Now that WhatsApp (via WABetaInfo) has added the ability to connect multiple Android devices, owners of Galaxy smartphones and tablets can do so by going to a new area of the app’s UI called “Register Device as Companion.”
Currently, the registration process in the newest WhatsApp beta edition needs the primary device to scan a QR code on the secondary “companion” smartphone, although this process may change before the functionality goes live to the general public.
It is unknown when this new feature will be released outside of beta, but more updates will be shared as we learn more.
