WhatsApp, a meta messaging company has announced that it is slowly rolling new features to its user base. One of the new features is the increase in the group size from 256 to 512. This means you can now have 512 people in a group chat.
According to the company in a blog post, this is one of the top requests it has consistently received. Though commendable, it is nothing compared to rival Telegram which says groups can have up to 200,000 members.
WhatsApp also announced that the limit of 100MB for a transferred file on the platform to 2GB. The company says it will be helpful for collaboration among small businesses and school groups
WhatsApp also announced that emoji reactions are now available on the latest version of the app. Reactions are fun, fast, and they reduce overload in groups too. It says it will continue improving them by adding an even broader range of expressions in the future.
A couple of days ago, the meta company launched a new feature called Communities. Communities on WhatsApp enable people to bring together separate groups under one umbrella with a structure that works for them. That way people can receive updates sent to the entire Community and easily organize smaller discussion groups on what matters to them.
