    WhatsApp down in Zimbabwe?

    1
By Staff Writer on July 6, 2016 Apps

Apparently it seems that WhatsApp is down in Zimbabwe. There are reports from different parts of the country that WhatsApp messages are not being delivered. And this is on all the mobile networks in the country – Econet Zimbabwe, TelOne, Telecel and NetOne

Tell us @Telecel_Zim @econet_support @TelOneZW Who has switched off Whatsapp?#ShutDownZimbabwe2016

WhatsApp is the most frequently used messaging service in Zimbabwe and it seems that this has been disrupted because of the ongoing #ShutDownZim, #ShutDownZimbabwe2016 protest in the country.

There is currently a work boycott in the country as people are being advised to stay indoors to protest the dismal situation in the country.

However other social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook Messenger are still working and messages are still being sent.

And people have been sharing ways of bypassing this WhatsApp clampdown on Twitter.

However there are fears that sharing these proxy lists will lead to governments banning them.

Don't share proxy lists publicly because governments will keep banning based on a list. Be careful who you share with #ShutDownZimbabwe2016
