WhatsApp Beta Testing AI-Powered “Imagine Me” Feature for Personalised Selfies

WhatsApp, the popular messaging platform owned by Meta, is reportedly experimenting with an innovative AI-powered selfie generator tool called “Imagine Me.” This feature, currently being tested in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android, leverages Meta’s AI capabilities to create personalised images based on user prompts.

According to WABetaInfo, a reliable source for WhatsApp updates, the “Imagine Me” feature is integrated with Meta’s AI chatbot. Users can generate AI-generated images by simply typing “Imagine Me” in a Meta AI chat or by using the prompt “@Meta AI imagine me” in other chats.

The AI tool then guides the user to take a selfie, which serves as the base for the generated image. Users can further customize their images by providing text descriptions of the desired style, background, or elements. The Meta AI processes these instructions independently and delivers the resulting image directly within the conversation.

WhatsApp assures users that the “Imagine Me” feature prioritizes privacy, with the AI processing commands independently and automatically sharing the generated image without compromising user data.

Additionally, the feature offers a wide range of customization options, allowing users to choose from various backgrounds and locations, ranging from serene forests to outer space, to personalize their creations.

While “Imagine Me” is currently exclusive to beta testers on Android, it is anticipated to be rolled out to all users in a future update. The exact timeline for the public release remains unknown, but the feature is expected to be optional, enabling users to choose whether they want to utilize it.

The introduction of the “Imagine Me” AI selfie generator tool signifies WhatsApp’s foray into the growing trend of AI-powered creative tools on social media platforms. It provides users with a fun and engaging way to express themselves through personalized images within their conversations.

As AI technology continues to evolve, it will be fascinating to see how WhatsApp further develops and integrates this feature into its platform, potentially expanding its capabilities and offering even more creative options for users in the future.
