What you’re likely to see at Samsung’s Next Unpacked Event on August 11th

There are companies that love to give prompts in their invitations, such as Samsung. Yesterday it officially sent out an invitation to attend its next Unpacked product event, tagged “Get Ready To Unfold”. Date and time will be August 11th and 10AM ET / 7AM PT respectively.

As you can see in the YouTube video, it features a pair of solid-colored objects similar to the Galaxy Z Fold or Flip form factor. Samsung says it’s opening up pre-orders on its “next flagship,” sights and specs currently unseen. Early pre-order benefits include “12 free months of Samsung Care+, up to an extra $200 trade-in credit and a special pre-order offer.”

    It’s Better To Wait

Honestly, I think it’s better to wait until you actually see the thing and maybe read a couple of reviews. There is actually a lot I think Samsung will unpack (say) before the event.

First off, I’m probably not the only one who thinks the company will be hosting its next major event as part of the upcoming Galaxy Watch which it teased last week.

The big event at MWC is a bit silly (as opposed to MWC itself) and has more to do with the upcoming partnership with Google in the wearable space than the hardware announcement.

    Galaxy Z Fold 3

According to images posted on Twitter (though deleted) by Evan Blass, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 looks a lot like the current version of the foldable phone. Of course, the biggest improvement is compatibility with Samsung’s S Pen stylus. The company has been communicating a while now (through telegraphs) that it would add stylus support to the “Fold line”.

Samsung has done better when it comes to foldable durability with the switch to “Ultra Thin Glass” under a plastic sheet for these displays. However, the screens are still more fragile than normal smartphone screens. If the company wants consumers to poke at the Z Fold 3’s screen with a plastic stick, then this foldable screen needs to be made more durable.

    Galaxy Z Flip 3

Samsung would probably focus on the externals, as new improvements, for the Galaxy Z Flip 3. There are rumors that the company will replace a very tiny screen with a slightly larger but still fairly small screen.

Also expect the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 with a rotating bezel and the unannounced Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 4 in two colors.

    Get Ready To Unfold

Also to come is the Samsung Galaxy Buds series which could have a new model. We’ll know for sure when Samsung starts live streaming on August 11.
