What is Google Lens, and How to use it in a browser

If you want to use advanced AI, Google Lens is a great tool that can make it simple. You can even use it on a computer with a web browser. The Google Lens app is built into the camera app on many Android phones. The more you use it, the more you see how powerful Google’s image processing and analysis tools are. With an image, it can read words, identify objects, and do much more.

Google Lens was first shown off at Google I/O in 2017. An image recognition neural network specifically developed for Google’s Android operating system is used to recognise objects in a shot and match them with relevant information. This is like Google search, but it uses images instead of text.

Using Google Lens on a computer with a web browser means you can use Google’s visual analysis practically anywhere, and there are several methods using this tool.

    1. After conducting a Google search, you can view images that include the keywords you searched for by clicking the Images tab.
    2. Google Lens will show up in the corner of the picture when you click on it. The icon looks like a camera’s focus symbol (a reticle), or it is a dashed square with a dot in the center of the square.
    3. When you click on the Google Lens icon, dots will start to appear over the picture.
    4. The first set of results returned by Google Lens may not exactly match the area of the image that you are looking for, but the search can be narrowed down.
    5. The area which seems to be the most relevant will be surrounded by a dashed rectangle similar to the Google Lens logo.
    6. If you look at the photo, you might also see one or more white dots. Each one represents a different object that Lens sees in the picture.
    7. When you click on one of these targets, the object’s relevant information will be shown.
    8. Drag the edge of the dashed rectangle to change its size.
    9. Any time you click on the dots or rectangles, they change the match results below.

If you use Chrome browser you can test this by right-clicking on any image in the browser and selecting Google Lens from the context menu to access Google Lens This artificial intelligence technology may be utilised on any device, including a desktop or laptop computer with a short search using Google Lens.
