Enforcing its commitment to knowledge development in the education sector through ICT, Vodacom Business Nigeria consistently organizes field trips for schools aimed at further development of students understanding of information and communication technology with practical learning beyond the classroom.

The company recently hosted the Senior Secondary students of Children’s International School, Lekki on a 1 day field trip to its facility in Lagos, taking them on a tour of its Data Centre, exposing the students to the technology behind cloud computing, online gaming and other applications like Facebook and Instagram used on a daily basis while encouraging the students to develop skills required in ICT innovation.

The Managing Director of Vodacom Business Nigeria, Mr Guy Clarke said “Given early access to information and communications technologies, the youths tend to become early adopters of new technologies, developing skills, spurring innovation required for economic growth. Our goal is that bringing these students to our environment will afford them the access to required exposure and entrepreneurial skills to help them excel in an ICT driven environment”.

Mr Chidi Nwankwo, Head ICT Academics, Children’s International School said “We believe in practical learning for our students and this field trips is an opportunity for our students to be cognitively engaged and challenged, as they explore areas of personal interest and curiosity and engage in bidirectional communication with each other and the adult facilitators.

It will be recalled that Vodacom Business Nigeria has opened its doors to a number of schools including the Federal Science and Technology College, Yaba, Grace Schools and Benue state University; taking them through cloud computing, virtualization and data security.
