Since its inception in Kenya in 2017, Villgro Africa has expanded its operations across Africa, offering support to numerous healthcare and life sciences startups with seed funding exceeding $1 million.
Villgro Africa stated that its current call for female-led startups is part of their initiative to bridge the gender gap in healthcare innovation. The organization is set on empowering female founders by offering a supportive environment, mentorship, and access to potential funding opportunities.
The startups chosen for this initiative will benefit from a well-rounded support network that includes mentorship, technical expertise, opportunities for sponsorship, and potential funding. The call is open to startups that develop solutions in every healthcare area, spanning from prevention and diagnosis to treatment and management.
Villgro Africa emphasized the difficulties encountered by female founders in the healthcare innovation sector. The organization mentioned a lack of access to programs that cater to women’s leadership styles and a deficiency of support from traditional funding sources as some of the obstacles women entrepreneurs face.
Through providing aimed support, Villgro Africa aims to empower women and promote a more diverse and impactful healthcare innovation landscape in Africa.
