The Two Rivers International & Innovation Centre (TRIFIC SEZ), a premier service-centric business hub located in Nairobi’s diplomatic area, has recently received a substantial investment of $47.5 million from Vantage Capital, the largest mezzanine fund manager in Africa.
This significant financial boost is set to propel the expansion of TRIFIC SEZ, enabling the acquisition and refurbishment of an office tower with a total area of 14,975 square meters. The investment will also facilitate the construction of two additional state-of-the-art Grade A office towers, which will offer a combined 76,800 square meters of rentable space.
Occupants of TRIFIC SEZ will be integrated into the dynamic Two Rivers community, which encompasses residential spaces, dining options, retail outlets, and entertainment venues, creating a holistic and engaging business environment.
Warren van der Merwe, the managing partner at Vantage Capital, expressed pride in partnering with Centum, a distinguished investment corporation, for this venture. He emphasized that the partnership is poised to generate employment opportunities and draw foreign capital into Kenya.
James Mworia, the CEO of Centum, also shared his enthusiasm regarding the collaboration with Vantage Capital. He noted that the investment will enable TRIFIC SEZ to offer top-tier facilities that will attract enterprises, thereby stimulating the Kenyan economy through job creation, foreign investment, and increased export earnings.
TRIFIC SEZ is dedicated to giving businesses a strategic advantage by providing them with cutting-edge infrastructure, the latest technology, and a favorable regulatory environment. Companies situated within the zone will enjoy a range of tax benefits, such as exemptions from VAT, relief from import and stamp duties, and a reduced corporate tax rate for the first ten years of operation.
The legal aspects of the investment were handled by Werksmans from South Africa and Bowmans from Kenya. Additional advisory support for the transaction was provided by JLL, PWC Kenya, Turner & Townsend, Webber Wentzel, and IBIS Consulting.
