Microsoft has recently included through a security update, a small Windows 10 icon in the notification trays of Windows 7 and 8 PCs for Windows 10 upgrades.

    Get W10

The white notification icon, when clicked, brings up a window that asks users to reserve a free upgrade to Windows 10 when Windows 10 is made available. It assures the user that the reservation can be cancelled any time and if not cancelled, the PC will download Windows 10 when made available.

Clicking the ‘Reserve your free upgrade’ displays a message saying a Windows 10 upgrade has been reserved. It also asks for an email address in case the user wants an email confirmation when the OS has been downloaded.

The Windows 10 OS will be about 3GB in size, and is totally free with no hidden charges or costs. Microsoft revealed that Windows 10 will be ready for release some time in the summer of this year.
