Unity Bank has rolled out a new version of its mobile banking application, Unifi, introducing enhanced security features and faster payment options as it deepens its focus on digital banking.
The update, Unifi version 2.3, improves how customers send money, pay bills, and complete everyday transactions, while strengthening protection around digital activity. According to the bank, the upgrade is part of a broader effort to make mobile banking safer, more reliable, and easier to use, particularly for retail and younger customers.
As more Nigerians shift away from physical branches to mobile platforms, Unity Bank said the latest update is designed to support real-time transactions without compromising customer data security.
Built Around Everyday Banking Needs
Unity Bank said the new Unifi app reflects how customers already use the platform and incorporates feedback gathered through regular interactions.
“With the latest upgrade to Unifi, we are responding directly to customer expectations by enhancing functionality, strengthening security, and simplifying key payment and transaction journeys,” said Adenike Abimbola, Divisional Head, Retail, SME, Digital Banking & Fintech Partnerships at Unity Bank.
She added that the bank’s objective is to ensure customers can carry out their banking activities seamlessly and confidently, anytime and anywhere.
Faster Payments and Improved Features
The Unifi 2.3 update expands quick-access features, improves QR code payments, and optimises transaction flows across the app. Users can now complete transfers, airtime purchases, bill payments, and QR-enabled transactions more efficiently on both Android and iOS devices.
Unity Bank expects the improvements to reduce transaction delays and improve reliability, especially during peak usage periods.
Digital Banking at the Core of Unity Bank’s Strategy
Unifi was launched to help Unity Bank grow its retail customer base, with a strong focus on mobile-first and younger users. Over time, the app has become a primary channel for customer onboarding and daily banking activities.
“As mobile banking increasingly defines how people interact with financial services, Unifi is central to our strategy of delivering intuitive, reliable, and inclusive digital solutions,” Abimbola said.
She noted that the bank will continue to invest in technology partnerships and platform enhancements that support financial inclusion, drive adoption, and improve overall customer experience.
With competition intensifying across Nigeria’s digital banking landscape, Unity Bank’s latest Unifi update underscores the growing importance of secure, fast, and branch-free banking experiences for customers.
