The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Club of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) on Thursday, July 2, received books on AI worth a million Naira and shelf support as prize for emerging the AI School of the year at the AI BootCamp organized by Data Science Nigeria in November last year.
The award was presented by officials of the Terragon Group- the sponsor of the award and Data Science Nigeria. The officials made the presentation in fulfillment of the ₦1 million prize set aside for the purchase of books to set up an AI library to be situated at the Centre for Information Technology and Systems (CITS), UNILAG.
The Acting Director, Centre for Information Technology and Systems (CITS), UNILAG, Dr. Victor Odumuyiwa, thanked Data Science Nigeria and Terragon Group for their impactful contribution to knowledge and growth in Nigeria. He also promised them that the students will put to good use the new books and go-ahead to take their place in the world, furnished with knowledge, integrity, and the drive to innovate.
Odumuyiwa also called on organisations and individuals to make a habit of contributing to the advancement of education in the University as many highly rated universities around the world are funded majorly by endowments from well-meaning organisations and individuals.
