Facebook Protect, a security measure, may come as a surprise to some users who start their programmes on their devices. By the company’s description, the feature is now being rolled out at a modest pace, with hopes to expand the initiative globally in 2022.
As a safety measure, Facebook Protect asks for two-factor authentication and monitors activity that could be seen as attempts to hack threats. It is meant for people who might be targeted on social media. Users who set up and manage Facebook Pages will need to meet additional requirements before the feature can be fully activated. Facebook Page administrators will have to go through a process called “Page Publishing Authorization” to make their pages more secure, even if they don’t choose to do so. They will have to use a genuine Facebook profile with their actual names to run their pages.
If you’ve been notified to enable Facebook Protect, you’re a high-target user. This means that your posts have the potential to reach a wide range of people including celebrities, politicians, and other high-profile figures. In order to improve customer service and increase the number of users, Meta plans to simplify the program’s signup flow next year.
How To Turn On Facebook’s Protection Mode
As soon as you open the app on your Android or iOS device, you’ll see a message asking you to turn on Facebook Protect. It could also show up on your Facebook newsfeed as an alert.
When you get to the welcome screen, click “Get Started.” Then, click “Next.” After you click “Next” on the benefits screen, Facebook will scan your account for possible flaws and give you advice on how to fix them so that you can use Facebook Protect.
Some people may need to choose a more secure password or use a third-party app like Google Authenticator to set up two-step authentication. Tap “Fix Now” and follow the instructions on the screen.
Users who receive the notification have Fifteen days from the date of notice to enable the feature; otherwise, their Facebook accounts will be locked until the option is enabled.
Eligible users may be required to utilise a computer in order to complete the process of setting up two-factor authentication for their Facebook account. It’s easy to do this: When you’re logged into your Facebook account, click on the drop-down menu in the top-right corner of the screen. Then click on Settings & privacy. Then click on Security and Login to start enabling Facebook Protect.
For now, users who are not yet able to use Facebook Protect are urged to go through some of the most popular security protocols on Facebook. There are several options, including enabling two-factor authentication and changing their passwords to be more secure.
