After recent terrorist attacks in France, UK Prime Minister David Cameron has come out in support of banning encrypted messaging apps. British prime minister David Cameron said that unless the government is given backdoor access to encrypted messaging services, he’s just going to outlaw them.
Sources claim Cameron is in support for banning encrypted communication apps, which could include WhatsApp, Snapchat, and Apple’s iMessage.
“Are we going to allow a means of communications which it simply isn’t possible to read?” Cameron said Monday while campaigning, in reference to apps such as WhatsApp, Snapchat, and other encrypted services. “My answer to that question is: ‘No, we must not.’”
This is similar to what the U.S government’s been working on, banning encrypted communication for security purposes but will Cameron actually be able to follow through on such a promise is yet to be seen.
