Don’t get confused. Yes ! Microsoft has just introduced a new feature phone into the market. It is the Nokia 216.
This is the same company that said in May this year that it was selling its feature phone business. How come it is now launching a new feature phone?
Well, this is Microsoft’s official statement according to ZDNet;
“In May 2016, we announced Microsoft reached an agreement to sell the company’s entry-level feature phone assets to FIH Mobile Ltd., a subsidiary of Hon Hai/Foxconn Technology Group, and HMD Global Oy. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2016, subject to regulatory approvals and other closing conditions. Until the closing of the transaction, Microsoft continues to run the feature phone business.”
The phone has a 2.4-inch QVGA display and runs on the Series 30 OS with the Opera mini browser. It also has 0.3MP main camera and 0.3MP front camera for selfies. It weighs 82.6g and it has the ability to store up to 2,000 contacts.
