Uber has announced a 20% price slash on all UberX rides in Nigeria’s commercial capital city of Lagos. With this development, Uber said it will make owning a car in Lagos “almost unnecessary”.
The price slash officially kicked off at 8pm on Monday 4 May.
“Remember the last time you travelled in a 2008 AC saloon car for ?90/km? You wouldn’t. It never happened until today. From 8pm on Monday 4th May, we’re slashing uberX prices by 20%,” Uber said in a blog post by Ebi Atawodi, General Manager, Uber Lagos.
It would be recalled the company recently announced a partnership with Etisalat to offer the network’s subscribers free Uber rides, it has also partnered with music streaming service Spinlet to offer Uber riders free one month premium subscription on Spinlet.
On the price slash announcement, Uber said whether you’re commuting to and from work or running errands, these low uberX fares will have you Arriving in Style without breaking the bank.
Innovation Village reported Uber has recorded 100-fold growth since it began operations in Lagos
“These prices are only in effect for a limited time – the more you ride, the more likely we can keep them this low,” the company said.
