An Uber-like taxi hailing service, Handei, is set to launch in Harare, Zimbabwe on the 14th of July 2016. Just like Uber, Handei operates an app which allows a prospective customer call for a cab as and wehn needed.
According to a spokesman from the company behind the service, Mr Sam Paul, “We have developed the app for the Zimbabwean market. This is an exciting development because there are several benefits and one of them being to 1000 drivers within the first month.
“There is a number of car owners who do not want to see their cars lying idle so what they need to do is register with Handei so that they can earn a bit of extra cash”.
The app is currently in beta stage and will be made available on Google Playstore and Apple store from the 14th of July.
There is currently no taxi hailing service in Zimbabwe.
