Uber’s research into the health and wellbeing of Britons discovered that almost half of Brits surveyed say their lifestyle is making them feel stressed. They carried out the survey on 2,000 adults currently residing in the UK.
The same research also found that 43% of people made a New Year’s Resolution around mental health and wellbeing. According to their survey, of the 2,000 participants 37% are already exhausted by the prospect of the coming year; stating their work and social obligations make them feel tired. 56% said they want to leave their current job. Almost a third said they felt an impending sense of ‘burnt out’.

In light of these results, the taxi service has partnered with meditation app Calm to let passengers practice mindfulness on their journeys. “Some 54 per cent of people use their time in an Uber to scroll through emails, social media and the news on their smartphones,” said an Uber spokesperson, “so on your next Uber trip, escape your work for just a few moments to unwind.”
UK riders can now access the app as a part of the application. The app offers four guided meditation exercises, each timed to the length of an average trip.
This is a noble gesture by Uber, particularly at a time when mental health has become a rising concern.
