It started as a dream in San Francisco five and a half years and now it has done one billion trips. Awesome. On Wednesday, Uber announced that a £5 short uberX trip in London on Christmas Eve in a Honda was the billionth Uber Trip.

The lucky rider is Marvin while the driver is Ara.

For being the lucky winners, Marvin is getting one year’s worth of free rides while the driver Ara is getting a vacation to an Uber city of his choice.

Uber 1 billion rides and counting

According to Uber in its blog post, it will be celebrating the community where the special trip took place by making a donation to Hackney Pirates – a charity serving the neighbourhood where the billionth trip started.

In September, CEO Travis Kalanick remarked that it now does two million rides a day
