Twitter/X Creators Report Earning Money Through Ads Revenue Sharing

Folks who have enrolled in the creator payout program on Twitter/X are reporting earnings through the platform’s Ads Revenue Sharing. If you’ve come across screenshots of X’s emails to these users, you might be curious about the excitement surrounding it.

Let me break it down for you: Ads Revenue Sharing is a method to earn money from ads that appear as replies to posts by verified users. Once you qualify for this, you start earning a share of the advertising revenue generated from the natural views of these ads in response to the content you share on X. Payments are made once you set up a Stripe account (X’s payment processor) and link it to your profile.

But there are some criteria to meet in order to be eligible:

    1. You need to be subscribed to X Premium (formerly known as Twitter Blue) as an individual or to Verified Organisations as a business.
    2. You must have at least 500 followers.
    3. Your combined posts need to have received at least 15 million organic impressions within the past 3 months.

Surprisingly, Twitter/X has lowered the difficulty in qualifying for the creator payout program. The company announced late yesterday that they’ve lowered the requirement for organic impressions on your total posts to one-third of the previous count, which now stands at 5 million instead of the earlier 15 million.

Furthermore, Twitter/X has reduced the minimum withdrawal amount for Creators to just $10, down from the previous threshold of $50. However, the company still emphasises the need for creators to be verified and suggests signing up for a Premium subscription to gain access.

In a cautionary note, Elon Musk, the owner of the company, clarified that only impressions from verified accounts will be considered for ad revenue sharing. This measure is in place to prevent Scammers from using bots to artificially inflate view counts. By this statement, Musk has qualified Twitter/X accounts that generate above 5M views to have free access to X Premium.

As of now, Twitter/X does not offer a feature that allows creators to determine the number of “verified views” their posts have received. Unfortunately, creators won’t have the ability to track the number of views or impressions their posts garner from verified users, aligning with Musk’s intentions.

In July, the company initiated payments to certain creators and subsequently extended the program to verified creators worldwide later in the same month. Elon Musk had previously announced that the initial round of payouts for creators would total nearly $5 million.

Last week, X reported a delay in the scheduled payout for July 31 due to a significant increase in sign-ups.
