    Twitter upgrades search interface

Twitter has upgraded its search interface, making it less cluttered and more accurate. The new Twitter search design which had been in testing since last month gives more emphasis to images and has enhanced filtering options.

It also highlights important tweets, images and accounts related to search queries. One can switch between ‘Top’ tweets meaning tweets with the most engagement or coming from prominent accounts, and ‘Live’ tweets that bring you the latest tweets on the search term.

In addition, a menu at the top of the page allows the user to check searches whose results are for ‘Accounts’; searches that only contain ‘Photos’, ‘Videos’, and ‘News’. The previous interface had only options for Images and for Accounts (it was called People then). There is also the option of saving the search for future reference or embedding it on another website.

The advanced search option which allows users to filter tweets by location, date range and whether they’re positive, negative or asking a question — is still available and remains unchanged.

The new interface seems to be well thought out, and is a definite improvement over the previous.
