Twitter is currently working on a feature that allows organisations belonging to the Verified Organizations Subscription Program to import all their job listings to their profiles. Elon Musk indirectly hinted at this development a few days ago. Even though the statement came from a caricature account, the Billionaire hinted at this also in May via his official account. The former expressed the vision that Twitter will one day serve as a platform for users to find paid jobs. “We are building the EVERYTHING app,” it buttressed.
The initiative, aptly named “Twitter Hiring,” has led to the creation of an official @TwitterHiring account. Although the account is active, it has yet to post any content. It appears that Twitter has selected some verified organisations to participate in testing this feature, enabling them to showcase job listings under their Twitter bios on their profiles. Interested candidates can directly access the company’s website through these listings to learn more about the positions and submit their applications.
Nima Owji, an App Researcher and Web Developer, also attempted to clarify the integration process and shared a Twitter Hiring screenshot. According to the screenshot, one can connect a supported Applicant Tracking System (ATS) or XML feed to add job postings, which will then appear on their Twitter profile within minutes.
Currently, this integration is exclusively available for Verified Organizations. LinkedIn allows companies to post jobs freely on the platform without any technical expertise. For my job posting to show up on Twitter, I need to be part of the platform’s Verified Organisations Subscription Program and remember that sourcing for talent is a choice which I have total control over.
As of now, LinkedIn boasts a user base of over 52 million job seekers. Should Twitter decide to venture into the hiring platform space, it could tap into its massive pool of 372.9 million users (Note: not Job seekers) to potentially increase revenue and user engagement. However, I don’t perceive this move as an immediate threat to LinkedIn, which is already a well-established networking platform for professionals.
