While we still wait for audio tweets to be available across all platforms, Twitter says it is testing voice DMs. In June this year, Twitter announced that it was rolling out audio tweets on iOS and while we are still expecting this on Android platform, Alex Ackerman-Greenberg, product manager for direct messages at Twitter announced via a discussion with The Verge that it is testing a feature that will allow people drop voice messages in your DM.
According to Alex, “We know people want more options for how they express themselves in conversations on Twitter — both publicly and privately.”
As can be seen above, it is a simple interface with a play/pause button and the avatar vibrates when the message plays. You can also record a message directly in line.
Though the audio message feature is relatively new on Twitter, it is already available other apps like Facebook. Facebook allows you send audio messages in Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp
The test is starting in Brazil.
