It seems Twitter has finally decided to have its own vanishing posts like Snapchat and Instagram Stories. It will be called Fleets. Fleets are a way to share fleeting thoughts.
According to Twitter Brazil Product Manager, Mo Al Adham, in a blog post, translated into English, “Fleets are for you to share your ideas and momentary opinions. These posts disappear after 24 hours and have no Retweets, likes or public comments. In an initial survey, people told us that, once the Fleets are gone, they are more comfortable sharing everyday and everyday thoughts. We hope that those people who are not usually comfortable with Tweeting use Fleets to talk about the reflections that come to their head.”
“Like Tweets, Fleets are based primarily on text, but you can include videos, GIFs or photos in them. If you want to reply to a Fleet, click on it to send a Direct Message (DM) or emoji, and continue this conversation on your DMs. Your followers will be able to see your Fleets at the top of their Home Page, and anyone who can access your full profile will also be able to find your Fleets there. If your DMs are open, anyone can react to your Fleets. ” said Mo.
Twitter is one of the last major social media platforms to test out a Stories format. Though this feature was first made popular by Snapchat, a version of this is now available on across Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube, and others .
Twitter is only testing this feature in Brazil for now. Hopefully, it should be available world-wide soon.
