Twitter has announced it is working on a new feature called, Tweet Tiles, that will enhance links to certain NFT marketplaces in posts.
The new feature allows users to include a link to an NFT on an external site. The link will automatically expand to show a full-size image of the NFT, plus metadata and a link to its location on its respective marketplace.
Rarible, Magic Eden, Dapper Labs and GuardianLink’s Jump.trade marketplaces have been selected for the pilot.
As a result, the featured partners will be able to display colorful NFTs directly within Tweets for the first time. The format allows for a larger picture of the NFT to be displayed alongside metadata such as the title and creator.
Rarible acknowledged the feature, writing that Tweet Tiles will allow users to “experience NFTs in a whole new way”.
Magic Eden also made reference to the feature, in a tweet that reads, “Loving the TweetTile…some might even say it’s fire.”
Jump.trade concluded by calling the addition “a pleasant and welcome boost for NFTs [and] a big milestone for web3.”
With Tweet Tiles, developers have more ways to make their Twitter content visually appealing, engaging, and adaptable to the needs of their target audience. Incorporating NFTs with relevant information and a direct marketplace connection can boost sales and aid in the discovery of new and trendy collections.
The Tweet Tiles beta will be available on iOS and the web for the highlighted NFT markets for the test group.
Twitter is reported have tested the “Tweet Tiles” feature in August with the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and The Guardian. NFT-related posts were not expanded using the capability at the time.
The new feature is “one more step in our journey to let developers impact the Tweet experience,” according to the Twitter developer account.
Over the past year, the company, now owned by Elon Musk, has been gradually adding NFT support. It distributed the free NFTs in the summer of 2021. Since January of this year, it has allowed NFTs to be used in user profile photographs.
Twitter is also adding support for bitcoin. Rumors have been circulating this week that the site is developing a cryptocurrency wallet, following the introduction of cryptocurrency tipping in September 2021.
