Twitter Introduces New Ways To Share And Discover “Spaces”

Twitter has made several new updates to its audio Space feature. Changes include the new ‘Sharing Options’ and ‘New Search Tools’ to help increase awareness and engagement and improve the way Spaces are discovered respectively.

On the new ‘Sharing Options’ feature

Users can now post new tweets directly from Space with audio chat links and all relevant hashtags. Previously, it was possible to create new tweets while listening in a room, but placing the composer directly in the room makes it easier for participants to tweet about the conversation during the conversation.

Looking at the above image, hosts can tap the “Tweet” button during a Space. They can add the relevant hashtag and Space link to their tweet. This will make it easier for their followers to discover or find the Space broadcast on Twitter.

This tool is a great way Twitter users can promote their Spaces broadcasts as they can expect to get lots of requests to share Space details so as to draw in more listeners. Twitter confirms the option is available on iOS and Android devices.

On the ‘New Search Tool’ feature

Twitter has added several new search options to the Spaces tab that are currently being tested with select users.

Previously, Twitter would curate a list of active Spaces and suggest to its users. Users with access to the search tool will also be able to search for Spaces by ‘Title’, ‘Name’ or ‘Handle of a Host’.

Finally, the company has also added new guest controls to iOS. This allows hosts to easily find out who is in particular Space and has requested to speak.

As you can see, the company has improved the layout so hosts can see who is in their Spaces at any time.

These are small, well thought out adjustments, but each one serves an important purpose in the big picture. As Twitter is doing its best to give Spaces more weight, it is important for the platform to make the most of all opportunities to increase engagement and interest.
