The judgment has been delivered on Olympic sprinter, Oscar Pistorius murder of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. This brings to end a case that has captivated the South African country in the last couple of years.
Pistorius killed Reeva Steenkamp at his home in Pretoria in the early hours of Valentine’s Day three years ago.
The same judge originally convicted him of manslaughter after months of hearings, but a higher court changed that to murder in December.
However people on Twitter are not so forgiving on the “lame” sentence.
Here are some of the tweets on the judgment.
6 Years?
For murder?
What a joke. RIP Reeva. #pistorius pic.twitter.com/q5Nwd6qHpu— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) July 6, 2016
If #Pistorius was black & non-famous, he'd have got life imprisonment.
Saved by celebrity status. pic.twitter.com/9B8HBqnia2— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) July 6, 2016

#Pistorius sentence is a travesty. Violence against women must end. There are no 'mitigating factors'.

Nicole Brown-Simpson, Reeva Steenkamp…sad how their lives are devalued by the athletic feats of their murderers.#Pistorius
