Tunisia’s Minister of Communication Technologies and Digital Economy, Noomen Fehri has announced plans to launch the tender for the marketing of 4G telecommunication services this month, he added that granting of licences to operators is scheduled for summer 2016.

Speaking at workshop on the project entitled “Quality of service, supply chain and product development in the Arab region during the 2013-2016 cycle,” the minister added that the 4G services will be gradually generalised.

“For this purpose, we will ask operators to move in priority towards marketing this technology in non-profitable regions initially to ensure equal chances between the different regions of the country and promote their development,” he said.

According to Fehri, the 4G will help improve Internet services in Tunisia which remain “poor and expensive.”
