Tunde Kehinde Co-Founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer, Lidya Holdings, Inc, Nigeria and Chinny Ogunro, Chief Executive Officer, WellSpring Health, Nigeria are the two young leaders representing Nigeria in this year’s class of Young Global Leaders. 10 Africans were named in the list of 115 people selected this year.

Each year, the Forum of Young Global Leaders undertakes a rigorous process to identify the world’s most promising and compelling leaders under the age of 40. The new 2020 class of Young Global Leaders are change makers from civil society, arts and culture, government and business.

The mission of the Forum of Young Global Leaders is to create a dynamic global community of exceptional people with the vision, courage and influence to drive positive change in the world.

The Forum of Young Global Leaders has a growing membership of more than 1,300 members and alumni which includes public officials, business innovators, artists, educators, technology developers, journalists and activists. Aligned with the World Economic Forum’s mission, they seek to spur public-private cooperation amongst these unique actors to demonstrate entrepreneurship in the global public interest.

Representing more than 100 nationalities, Young Global Leaders are united by the belief that the urgent problems of today present an opportunity to forge a better future across sectors, generations and borders.

Each new class embarks on a five-year leadership journey that mobilizes their collective talents and accelerates action aimed at tackling societal, political and environmental challenges. The goal is to create transformative experiences for next-generation leaders that enhance their skills, broaden their world view, and lead to groundbreaking initiatives.

YGLs participate in executive courses at top institutions, gaining fresh insights and practical training in areas such as public policy, energy and environment, and responsible leadership. They come together at summits, workshops and field expeditions where creative solutions and joint ventures are sparked. Exposure to new perspectives instils empathy and a sense of shared responsibility at a key juncture in their careers.

When YGLs have completed the five-year programme, they are invited to join the Alumni Community, where they can continue their leadership journey and maintain their engagement with the World Economic Forum as well as YGL activities and events.

Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum, created the Forum of Young Global Leaders in 2004 to help the world meet increasingly complex and interdependent problems. His vision was to create a proactive multistakeholder community of the world’s next-generation leaders to inform and influence decision-making and mobilize transformation.
