Social media giant TikTok has banned all videos pertaining to the viral Milk Crate Challenge on its platform due to safety concerns. So it has deleted search results for the hashtag “milk crate challenge” on its app and issued a statement depicting the challenge as a dangerous activity.
“TikTok prohibits content that promotes or glorifies dangerous acts, and we remove videos and redirect searches to our Community Guidelines to discourage such content,” a spokesperson said. “We encourage everyone to exercise caution in their behavior whether online or off.”
The milk crate challenge involves people stacking up milk crates as high as they can and attempting to climb from one side and down the other without the crates crashing underneath them.
There had been reports of people tumbling down and getting seriously injured but this did not deter people from continuing with the challenge.
A search for the hashtag now brings up a “No results found” screen on TikTok. “This phrase may be associated with behavior or content that violates our guidelines,” the results said.
The #cratechallenge had over 75 million views on TikTok before it was disabled.
The Crate Challenge videos are still on Twitter, Instagram and these social media platform has not issued any statement on the viral challenge yet.
