Some Facebook users have started to see ‘Threads’ options that would allow them to add new posts on related topics in previous posts.
Just a minute! It’s not completely similar to the Twitter ‘threads’ feature. This feature allows for more visual linking of posts, allowing fans to follow updates from time to time. When a new post appears in a subscriber’s news feed, it appears as a link to another post with a thread.
Social media consultant Matt Navarra saw this feature in action for the first time and shared a few screenshots of what it looks like. Curious, TechCrunch reached out to Facebook who confirmed that they are currently testing the feature with a small “authorized” Facebook group. Public figures is a special category on Facebook pages for high-level officials or anyone looking to increase their public presence on Facebook.
Facebook says that these posts with threads have a “View Post Threads” button that allows subscribers to easily navigate to see all the posts in a thread. The button will show you where you can see all related posts in one place.
Facebook can’t say for sure if and when testing on the platform will be passed on to other community leaders or later extended to other categories on the page, such as businesses or Facebook groups.
Threads are useful on social sites like Twitter where character restrictions make more complex conversations difficult. Instead of inspiring long posts, you can use Facebook threads to comment on events in real time. Alternatively, the user can post an update to an existing post in the thread and send a complex “Edited to add …” message instead of updating the original. Facebook is testing this feature with public figures, so it might be easier to share the post.
