Shuga Kenya, a local MTV production that featured Oscar Award winning actress, Lupita Nyong’o is now available on mobile. The series was first aired in 2009 and Lupita played the lead role.

Daya Interactive Ltd, an innovative digital marketing company is working in partnership with G-Pange, PATH International and MTV Foundation to create a digital platform for Africa. The Shuga Kenya television series will be condensed into mobisodes for a country wide viral campaign that is part of HIV/AIDs Awareness targeting the youth.

Statistics by Communications Commission of Kenya indicate an increase in the use of smart phones among the youth. This positions smartphones as an ideal viral marketing platform to reach and engage young Kenyans. The viral marketing strategy will use a selection of young people in each major town to engage new users with whom they will share the Shuga TV series on their mobile phone via a Video Messaging application.

Malcom Ouma, CEO, Daya Interactive Ltd says that the company is developing an app similar to VMS to integrate all traditional and analogue activities to their mobile content management system.

The company plans to partner with Wiko mobile brand to do experiential activation using our mobile phone quiz app and incorporating unique events as a marketing platform
