The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) has announced the semifinalists of Pitch AgricHack 2018.
Pitch AgriHack is part of the AgriHack Talent initiative of (CTA); it aims at accelerating e-agriculture entrepreneurship for improved livelihoods in the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries. The 2018 edition is organized with the support of the African Development Bank (AfDB), in collaboration with the African Green Revolution Forum (AGRA), the African Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) 2018, Women in Tech Africa, Wennovation Hub (Nigeria) and Suguba (regional).
The 2018 edition received a record 325 entries.
The assessment of the entries at this pre-selection stage was based on the proposed technical ICT solution, the current market traction, the technical eligibility of the services proposed, the target market and the overall quality of descriptions in the application form. After review by a group of about 20 evaluators clustered in different groups, 86 start-ups (50% of them led by women) have been retained.

These semifinalists will go through a new round of screening by experts from incubation centres, business and development organization, agricultural experts, venture capitalists, etc. 26 finalist startups will then be selected and they will take part in the final, with the opportunity to pitch their solution at the African Green Revolution Forum 2018 that will be held in Kigali, Rwanda from 3rd-7th September 2018.
