The right way to Unlocking any SIM card – MTN, Airtel, Glo, or 9mobile

The use of a SIM card lock is a great way to strengthen the security of your phone. However, this becomes a major issue if you or someone else repeatedly inputs the incorrect PIN, that results to the cellular network company blocking your SIM card.

If you’ve ever found yourself in this position and wondered, “how do I unblock my SIM card? Whether it is an MTN SIM card, Airtel, Glo, or 9mobile SIM card?”

The purpose of this article is to show you – step-by-step- the quickest and easiest way to get your PUK code and unlock your SIM card.

Before we dive into the how-to of unblocking your SIM Card, please note that your SIM card will remain locked if you don’t know the right SIM PUK code – an 8-digit code printed right on the SIM pack.

Any locked SIM card will prompt the user to “Enter PUK code” when the phone is started. If you’ve lost your SIM PUK packing, you can still retrieve it by contacting your service provider or logging into your network operator’s self-service portal or app.

The remaining part of this guide explain the process of unlocking either your MTN, Airtel, Glo, or 9mobile SIM card.

To Unlock your MTN SIM card

You’d agree that calling MTN’s customer service line can sometimes be a waste of time. Instead, I suggest you chat with Zigi, MTN’s virtual assistant on WhatsApp or Telegram – +2349033000001.

Step 1: Select the option to “Chat with an agent”

Step 2: Opt-in to retrieve your PUK number.

Step 3: You’d be ask a few security questions to confirm if you truly own the SIM card.

Step 4: Answer the question sincerely and wait for a moment to get your PUK.

To Unlock your Airtel SIM card

You can unlock your Airtel SIM card in the same way you would an account with any other Nigerian mobile provider.

To begin, locate your Aitel PUK in your SIM pack or by contacting Airtel customer support. You may easily replace your lost SIM pack by following the instructions below.

Start by caling “111″ to speak with an Airtel customer service. You can also dial +234802150011 if you’re doing this from am MTN line or another network.

Request to speak with an agent, then tell them you need the PUK for your block Airtel SIM. Respond to whatever questions and that’s it. Once you’re able to unlock your SIM card you’ll need to enter a new 4-digit PIN code to complete the set up.

To Unlock your Glo SIM card

Getting your Glo SIM PUK code is the same as that of MTN’s. Even though you can chat with a Glo customer service agent on Facebook and Messenger, the quickest way is to do it on the website.

Visit www.gloworld.com and click on the chat bubbleon the page.

Request for SIM’s PUK number, type in your phone number and complete the security questions.

To Unlock your 9mobile SIM card

For 9mobile it’s the same process. The customer agent would need you to answer a few questions to properly identify you as the owner of the SIM you’re trying to retrieve its PUK number.

Just Call 200 or dial +2348090000200 if you wish to retrieve your PUK code using a different number from your 9mobile line.

Tell the customer care agent that you wish to retrieve your SIM PUK. Of course you’ll need to tell them your phone number and answer the proposed security questions.

    Hope this helps!
