The Nigerian Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Community are invited to participate in the Nigeria Indaba X scheduled to hold in Nigeria from May9-10, 2019.
Originally, the Deep Learning Indaba is the annual meeting of the African machine learning community which started in 2017 in South Africa.
The IndabaX, is a step-down version of the main Indaba. The 2019 IndabaX aims to see over 500 members of Nigeria’s artificial intelligence community for a 2-day event of teaching, research, exchange, and debate around the state of the art in machine learning and artificial intelligence.
A web post from the organizers reads, “We are proud to see the 2019 IndabaX Nigeria hosted at the University of Lagos, one of the leading universities in Nigeria and is home to some of the nation’s top scholars, researchers, and experts in diverse fields with facilities that offer a nurturing environment in which students learn and grow.
“To participate in this prestigious event, we request interested participants to submit a 1-page extended abstract in any of the following thematic areas: Computer Vision, Image Processing, Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning,Big Data Analytics, Machine Learning,Optimization Methods, Convolutional Neural Networks, Recurrent Neural Networks, Generative Models and Recommender systems.
“The IndabaX will offer a practical/tutorial session in Python and TensorFlow to cover all the basic areas of Machine Learning for students and practitioners. We also invite submission for labs/workshops in any of the thematic areas. Labs/Workshop submissions should be prepared in Notebook (Python) and submitted through this registration link.”
Note that papers/workshops that address methods and applications of deep learning in solving local problems in Nigeria (Healthcare, Agriculture, etc) will be given utmost priority. All accepted abstracts shall be presented on a professional poster. The best paper/poster award will be presented to the best presenter with a full travel grant to the Main Deep Learning Indaba 2019 holding at Kenyatta University, Nairobi, Kenya on 25-31 August 2019.
