Tesla Motors Inc.’s chief executive Elon Musk had some not-too-nice things to say about Apple’s workforce. Since Apple is planning on getting into the electric car business, the company has hired former staffs from Tesla Motors to work on the electric-auto project.
In an interview with German business newspaper Handelsblatt, Musk made a statement when asked if Apple hired senior engineers from Tesla;
Important engineers? They have hired people we’ve fired. We always jokingly call Apple the ‘Tesla Graveyard.’ If you don’t make it at Tesla, you go work at Apple. I’m not kidding.”
And while we might be excited over an electric car from Apple, Musk seemed to suggest Apple is out of its league here. When asked if he takes Apple’s ambitions seriously, the Tesla CEO threw Apple’s latest major product right under the bus:
“Did you ever take a look at the Apple Watch?” He then laughed after the question.
He went on saying;
No, seriously: It’s good that Apple is moving and investing in this direction but cars are very complex, not like a smartphone. “You can’t just go to a supplier like Foxconn and say: ‘Build me a car,’” he said.
Back in February, Musk found the idea of Apple becoming a carmaker “a great idea.” But it seems like he’s already written that off. According to recent rumours, Apple is said to have the electric car ready by 2019.
