Adding another first to its growing list of innovations, Terragon Group, Africa’s largest digital media company, recently announced its launch of an Augmented Reality (AR) solution in Africa. This new feat which ties into the Group’s vision – Innovation to make mobile meaningful, further strengthens the capabilities of the mobile device as a key advertising channel in Africa.

Temitope Esan, Product manager, AR, Terragon Group, said that the introduction of AR is a step closer towards advancing the technological capabilities of the region by bridging the gap between Africa and the rest of the world. Reinforcing its benefits, he said it will help brands create better engagement channels with their customers.

“The opportunities for AR are endless to any organization as it seeks to enhance our real world experience. By superimposing digital information on real life objects, individual customers are given a personalised and rich user experience that enables them to easily connect to a brand’s offerings. With the use of AR, Brands have an in-depth understanding of their customer behaviour that will increase affinity, user engagement and interaction with their various product/service offering“. Temitope said.

In this light, Terragon Group has partnered with Blippar Inc., a leading technology company in AR globally, to bring the solution to the African market.Speaking about this partnership, Emeka Enwere, Head, Business Development and Solutions Delivery, Terragon Group, said that the partnership is set to deliver higher return on investment as it promises to fuel increased interactions between brands and their consumers. “We look forward to replicating and exceeding the success AR has recorded in Europe, Asia and America,” he said.
