Jumia Nigeria has appointed Temidayo Ojo as its new Chief Executive Officer, ushering in a new era for the e-commerce giant’s largest market. The announcement, made on Monday, signals the company’s continued focus on empowering local talent and deepening its regional leadership pipeline.

Ojo steps into the role following the tenure of Sunil Natraj, who was credited with steering Jumia Nigeria through a challenging economic landscape and laying the groundwork for renewed growth and customer engagement.

A homegrown talent, Ojo joined Jumia in 2020 as Head of Planning and Performance and quickly rose through the ranks—first as Chief Commercial Officer, then as CEO of Jumia Ghana. Under his leadership in Ghana, the company achieved record performance metrics while building a culture of innovation and accountability.

“This appointment is deeply meaningful for me,” Ojo shared. “Nigeria is not just another market—it’s home. I understand the pulse of our consumers and partners, and I’m excited to help shape the future of e-commerce here.”

Armed with an MBA from IESE Business School and an engineering degree from the University of Lagos, Temidayo Ojo brings a rare blend of strategic insight and local market knowledge to the top job.

Francis Dufay, Group CEO of Jumia, expressed full confidence in Ojo’s ability to lead: “Temidayo’s success in Ghana showed how powerful visionary leadership can be. His passion, drive, and customer-first mindset make him the ideal choice for this role.”

Dufay also extended his appreciation to outgoing CEO Sunil Natraj for stabilizing Jumia Nigeria during a pivotal time. “Sunil played a critical role in our turnaround strategy and leaves behind a stronger business. We’re thankful for his contributions.”

As part of the executive reshuffle, Seleem Musibau has been named the new CEO of Jumia Ghana, taking over from Ojo.

The company emphasized that these changes align with its broader commitment to cultivating African leadership and building resilient, customer-focused operations across the continent.

With Ojo at the helm in Nigeria, Jumia signals a renewed push for sustainable growth, operational excellence, and deeper community engagement in one of Africa’s most dynamic digital economies.
