Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Communications, Ato Sarpong, believes the country’s ongoing Information Communication Technology (ICT) Park at Tema would attract revenue for Ghana’s economic development when completed
According to Sarpong, the main objective for the ICT park is not only to bring in revenue but to also enable the private sector to flourish, create jobs for Ghanaians and bridge the unemployment gap in Ghana.
Addressing a joint news conference organized by the Ministry and a seven-member delegation from Mauritius in Accra, on the progress level of the ICT Park, the Deputy Communications Minister said the current facility on the park is expected to create 500 jobs with an estimated investment portfolio of two hundred and sixty million US Dollars (US$ 260, 000,000.00).
In her remarks, Mrs Mawuena Trebah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ghana Investment Promotion Center (GIPC), said GIPC aimed to promote investment that was focused on the strategic projects of the various Ministries.
Mrs Treba said GIPC was poised to leverage and bring on board the world’s best investors– Ghana having been named by International Business Machines (IBM) as the number one ICT Center in the sub Region and the only African country with six mobile phone operators.
