Tecno has introduced its latest innovation from the R&D labs – the concept of a rollable smartphone named Phantom Ultimate. This device expands sideways, swiftly increasing the display size from 6.55 inches to 7.11 inches in just 1.2 to 1.3 seconds. Notably, this concept device from Tecno closely resembles the Vision V, except it lacks the folding capability.
The Phantom Ultimate incorporates a single-drive motor system that seamlessly expands the device with the simple press of a button, conveniently located on the top right side of the phone. When in the rolled state, it functions as a conventional 6.55-inch smartphone, with the additional screen resting on the back, serving as an Always-On Display.
In terms of specifications, the panel features a 7.11-inch On-cell LTPO AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2,296 x 1,596 pixels and a pixel density of 388 PPI. It boasts 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, although it’s important to note that these figures are challenging to confirm in a concept device.
The device measures 9.93 mm in thickness at its base and is designed to be comfortably held in one hand. For added durability, the device includes protective glass in the sliding area and a textured back for enhanced grip.
However, it’s important to note that the Phantom Ultimate is currently just a concept, and there is no indication of its imminent arrival in the market. The development and release of rollable phones may be subject to overcoming certain technological limitations, and the timeline for such advancements remains uncertain.
