TECNO, a major player in Africa’s smartphone market, has launched an ambitious AI-powered ecosystem in Kenya, signaling its commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology on the continent. This news comes hot on the heels of other AI-driven advancements in the region, such as the use of AI-powered surveillance to protect endangered black rhinos, and the introduction of AI LinkBoost in OPPO’s Reno12 series to enhance smartphone connectivity.

The hybrid launch event, attended by Innovation Village, showcased a diverse lineup of AI-enhanced devices designed to transform how African consumers interact with technology. From foldable smartphones and laptops to smart assistants and even a robotic dog, TECNO’s ecosystem aims to create a more personalised, productive, and interconnected experience for users.

“With the introduction of AI, we are taking this commitment to the next level, offering innovative, practical AI features that blend seamlessly into the daily lives of our customers,” stated Tecno Brand Manager Peter Shi. This echoes the sentiments expressed by other tech giants like OPPO, who are also integrating AI into their devices to improve user experience.

The event highlighted key products within the ecosystem, including the flagship Phantom V Fold2 5G smartphone with its impressive foldable screen and powerful camera system, the Camon 30S boasting a curved AMOLED display and Dolby Atmos sound, and the Megabook T16 laptop series featuring Intel Core Ultra processors and AI-powered features like AI Image Generation and AI Copilot.

TECNO emphasised the practical applications of its AI technology, showcasing features like the Ella AI Assistant, built on Google Gemini, which offers real-time translation, text generation, and smart recommendations. This focus on real-world usability aligns with TECNO’s stated goal of making technology more inclusive and accessible to everyone.

The company also highlighted its commitment to the African market, citing the development of AI-powered tools specifically tailored for African users, such as Real-Time Call Translation and Smart Q&A. This dedication to localising technology for the African context is crucial for ensuring its relevance and adoption.

The launch of TECNO’s AI-powered ecosystem marks a significant milestone in the evolution of technology in Africa. By embracing AI and integrating it into a wide range of devices, TECNO is empowering African consumers with tools that can enhance their lives, boost productivity, and foster greater connectivity. This move also positions TECNO as a leader in AI innovation in the African tech space, setting the stage for a future where technology is more intuitive, personalized, and seamlessly integrated into everyday life.
