Techcrunch is coming to Lagos, Nigeria

TechCrunch, a leading technology media property, dedicated to startups, reviewing new Internet products, and breaking tech news is coming to Lagos in July.

TechCrunch is coming to Lagos to organize one of its Meetup + Pitch-Off event with the aim of finding Nigerian startups for its Disrupt Conference in San Francisco. In its Pitch-Off event, participants will have 60 seconds to explain to a panel of judges why their startup is awesome. The panel of judges will be made up of TechCrunch editors, local venture capitalists, and successful startup entrepreneurs.

MarvelWeb, a web designing company says it is collaborating with TechCrunch to make this a reality. Toks Oguns of MarvelWeb, said in an email:

TechCrunch is coming to Lagos in late July 2015 and they’re looking for a few good startups to pitch at the event.
The goal is to bring the community together, get to know the amazing entrepreneurs in Nigeria, and get the word out about cool local startups.
We’re hosting a Pitch-Off, where pre-selected companies will have exactly 60 seconds to pitch their product on stage to a panel of judges, including TechCrunch editors, local venture capitalists, and successful startup entrepreneurs. In the end, only 3 startups will be victorious.
Because this is Lagos, we have to raise the bar in terms of prizes for our winners, so in addition to the prizes listed below we’re throwing  in a lot of extras.
First place will receive a table in Startup Alley at TechCrunch Disrupt SF in September. Second place will receive two general admission tickets to Disrupt, and third place will receive one general admission ticket.
Additional details on how to apply will be provided over the next few weeks.
