Tech Cooperative Startup SmartTeller has emerged winner of the $5,000 cash grant in the VerveTree Hub and FCMB Tech Ogun Challenge.
The event organized by VerveTree Hub in partnership with FCMB is aimed at developing young tech businesses by providing financial and advisory support.
The 2018 edition of the Challenge was held on the 6th and 7th of September, 2018 with over 60 young tech enthusiasts in attendance.
As part of the event, participants were organized into 10 teams to present their ideas before a panel of judges which included Bunmi Adebayo, Special Adviser to Ogun State Government on ICT; Aderemi Adetayo, MD/CEO Moving Media; and Rolayo Akhigbe, Divisional Head, Transaction Banking, FCMB.
It was exciting to see ideas from participants cover several fields such as transportation, health, education and learning, fintech, agriculture and more. Though long and tough, 5 teams emerged the eventual winners, they include:
- SmartTeller: Winner ($5,000).
- Farmers Pride: First Runner-Up ($3,000).
- Health.ng: Second Runner-Up ($2,000).
- Investnaira: Third Runner-Up ($1,000) and,
- Campus Help: Fourth Runner-Up ($1,000).
Also, winners were elated as they took steps closer to achieving their dreams and aspiration of building tech businesses.
Interestingly, Ogun state is gearing up to be the new tech hub in Nigeria as students from 21 higher institutions in the state gathered together for the 2-day tech challenge in Ibara, Abeokuta.
It is also worth knowing that FCMB is fast gaining prominence in the Nigerian tech space with its continued and relentless contributions towards the fast evolving Nigerian tech space and also in supporting the growth and development of tech startups across the country.
