After building strong operations in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, Taager is setting its sights on North Africa with the official launch of its services in Morocco. The expansion marks a major step forward for the Cairo-born startup as it works toward its long-term goal of democratizing access to e-commerce across the MENA region.
Founded in 2019 by Mohammed Elhorishy, Ismail Omar, Abdelrahman Sherief, and Ahmed Ismail, Taager has carved out a unique niche in the rapidly growing social commerce space. The platform gives aspiring online sellers everything they need to start a digital business — without upfront capital, inventory, supply chain management, or operational hurdles. Its integrated model handles product sourcing, warehousing, logistics, delivery, and payment processing, allowing users to focus on one thing: selling.
Over the last five years, Taager has emerged as a lifeline for thousands of micro-entrepreneurs, content creators, and digital marketers seeking additional income or a full-time digital business. The platform has already empowered more than 65,000 independent sellers, giving each instant access to a catalogue of over 5,000 curated, high-demand products, backed by Taager’s end-to-end infrastructure. For many young sellers across the region, Taager functions as both a digital storefront and a behind-the-scenes operations engine.
Betting Big on Morocco’s Rising Digital Economy
Taager’s move into Morocco is a strategic one. The country has one of North Africa’s youngest and most digitally connected populations, with smartphone penetration and online spending rising steadily year after year. Social commerce, in particular, has seen a surge as young Moroccans turn Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook Marketplace into entry points for online entrepreneurship.
According to Taager co-founder Abdelrahman Sherief, Morocco represents a natural next step in the startup’s regional growth strategy.
“We see Morocco as one of the most dynamic and exciting e-commerce markets in North Africa,” he said. “Our goal is to deliver an inclusive e-commerce empowerment platform that enables anyone to start and scale an online business.”
The launch extends Taager’s ambition to become the leading empowerment platform for online sellers in the Arab world — a mission rooted in giving more people economic autonomy through digital trade.
Guiding the Morocco Expansion: Salma Ammor
Taager’s Moroccan rollout will be led by Salma Ammor, a seasoned operator with experience driving major digital launches across Africa and the Middle East. Her appointment signals the company’s intention to build a strong seller community even before establishing local physical operations.
“Our mission is straightforward: to give every Moroccan — regardless of their starting point — the opportunity to build and grow an online business,” Ammor explained. She noted that Taager will initially operate without local warehouses or logistics centres in Morocco, but will maintain close engagement with Moroccan sellers while managing operations through its existing infrastructure in other MENA markets.
A New Opportunity for Morocco’s Digital Entrepreneurs
With its entry into Morocco, Taager is tapping into a vibrant market of young, entrepreneurial, and increasingly digital-native citizens. By removing barriers to entry and simplifying the complexities of online selling, the company is positioning itself as a key enabler of Morocco’s next wave of e-commerce growth.
