Switchcon, a company specializing in educational technology, has officially launched its tech innovation lab, named Infinolab, in Nigeria. This significant development took place at Lagos State University, signifying a major step forward in the synergy of technology and education, fostering collaborative technological solutions.

Infinolab is an innovative tech community birthed by Switchcon, built with a vision to form a dynamic environment where students can convene, share ideas, collaborate, and seek to address real-world problems using technology.

During an interview, the founder and CEO of Switchcon, Temidayo Adefioye, underscored the importance of the innovative hub within the university setting. He proceeded to disclose plans of replicating this venture in other universities across the African continent. Adefioye also explained that Infinolab places a strong emphasis on diversity and multidisciplinary collaboration.

He elaborated: “The lab aims to provide a space where students from a variety of disciplines can work together to create technological solutions to pressing challenges within their specific fields, despite their technical background levels.”

Moreover, he stated that the lab intends to level the playing field for all students, while fostering an entrepreneurial spirit. This would inspire them to turn their creative ideas into feasible operations, contributing to economic development and job creation.

Infinolab also serves as an incubator for student-led entrepreneurial and social enterprises. Potential entrepreneurs can take advantage of Switchcon’s mentorship programmes and connections with industry experts to construct their business models, fabricate prototypes, and navigate the complexities of launching a new business.

Dr Fatai Abatan, the Dean of Student Affairs at Lagos State University, expressed his excitement about the Infinolab launch. He believes that Switchcon’s project will unlock a wealth of opportunities for students to exploit their creativity and technical skills. He envisions the lab as a catalyst for innovation that will empower students to become problem solvers and thought leaders in their areas of expertise.

This ground-breaking initiative, according to Dr Abatan, will enable Lagos State University students to stand out in various competitions by showcasing their innovative and pioneering ideas, propelling them to the forefront in their respective fields.

As the operation of the lab begins, Lagos State University believes it could evolve into a flourishing hub of creativity and innovation within its walls. This will groom the next generation of tech leaders and bring about positive change both within Nigeria and beyond.
