Supersport intends to capture more Nigerians, especially the “Pidgin” populace by introducing a new initiative called “Follow Ya Mouth”. It is also commencing its search for a Pidgin Commentator. Pidgin English is the “Lingua Franca” a huge number of people in Nigeria.
The General Manager of SuperSport West Africa, Felix Awogu, at the official launching of the initiative in Lagos, said that it became imperative to use the popular language that every Nigerian understands.
“We are looking for Nigerians, who can play with typical pidgin words on air and are also passionate about the league. It promises to be a unique experience for every participant,” Awogu said.
This initiative will provide the winner the opportunity to run commentary on the Glo Premier League along with the several stars in the Super Eagles.
Awogu said that auditions would hold in Lagos and Port Harcourt and expected participants should be within ages of 21-36. Contestants are also expected to demonstrate versatility and command of Pidgin English.
He however, said that the eventual winner would be offered a one-year contract by the organisation.
The panel of judges would be chaired by ace sports commentator, Deji Omotoyinbo, while others are Chinedu Ani (Nedu of Wazobia FM) and Tega Onojaife.
The best six contestants from each audition will progress to the next round, where they will be housed in Lagos for a week to undergo mentoring and training before the grand finale that will produce the winner.
