Kenyan solar energy provider Sun King has unveiled the HomePlus Max, a next‑generation solar home system engineered with advanced features and significantly upgraded battery technology. The launch underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to clean, reliable, and affordable energy solutions for households and small businesses across emerging markets.

Sun King is widely recognized as the world’s largest off‑grid solar energy company, known for its innovative product design, flexible and affordable financing models, and extensive grassroots distribution network. Its mission is to support the 1.8 billion people across Africa and Asia who continue to live without dependable access to electricity. Since its founding, the company has distributed more than 30 million solar products, a testament to its scale, impact, and leadership in the global off‑grid solar sector.

Drawing on this vast experience, Sun King developed the HomePlus Max to set a new standard for performance, durability, and accessibility in solar home systems. The unit delivers more light, greater power output, faster charging capabilities, and a broader range of features than any previous Sun King system. Notably, it introduces USB‑C charging, enabling users to power laptops and a variety of modern battery‑operated devices, functionality that meets the evolving needs of both households and micro‑enterprises.

Designed to serve as a comprehensive energy solution, the HomePlus Max can illuminate up to four rooms, offering brightness comparable to that of a modern grid‑connected home. The system also powers high‑efficiency DC appliances, including Sun King’s new 43‑inch HD television, pedestal fan, and radio. Its charging capabilities support multiple devices simultaneously, such as smartphones, laptops, and radios, making it a versatile power hub for families, shops, and small offices.

Security and convenience are built into the system as well. The HomePlus Max features an integrated motion‑detecting security light with a range of up to seven meters, enhancing safety for households during nighttime hours. Its hybrid charging functionality allows the battery to be recharged using both the roof‑mounted solar panel and grid electricity where available, ensuring uninterrupted access to power regardless of weather or grid reliability.

Commenting on the significance of the launch, T. Patrick Walsh, Sun King’s CEO and co‑founder, stated:

The HomePlus Max redefines what a solar home system can deliver. It offers bright modern lighting, fast charging for multiple phones, and laptop charging capability, all while powering the Sun King TV or pedestal fan. The HomePlus Max sets a new benchmark for affordable, reliable solar energy.

With the introduction of the HomePlus Max, Sun King further strengthens its position as a leader in delivering sustainable, high‑quality energy solutions tailored to the needs of off‑grid households and entrepreneurs, helping bridge the energy access gap across Africa and beyond.
